Visual Land (VL) www.visualland.net is an eLearning site that provides two services:
Problems
- Network protocols are abstract, distributed. The learning cycle is long for beginners. Traditional methods (class, books, labs) are inefficient.
- Corporate internal eLearning is a big market. But it lacks eLearning platform and tools. Developing technical courseware is time consuming and costly.
- Animation is an effective learning format. But there is no effective tools to create animation. Visio can draw graphs well but cannot animate them. Power Point can do simple animation but unable to handle complicated data, event, and state.
Missions
- Raise network learning productivity dramatically. For example, 15 minutes playing of VLAN animation gains better understanding than 3-days of text reading.
- Extend Visio and Power Point by animating static graphs. It's like inserting video into .vsd and .ppt files.
Products
- Online virtual labs (vlab) tutorials for internet protocol learning. They animate network protocols and labs.
- Online eBook. Replace book's figure by animations.
- Online animation tool - Animation Editor (AE): Authors can use AE to animate interactive network tutorials for schools, corporate training, marketing, and customer service. AE can build packets, router states, configuration commands. Data can be created manually, or injected from simulation (dynamips, Packet Tracer, ns2.)
